This dulcimer shows the multicoloured browns typical of the Lightwood acacia. In the tradition of the old-time makers, the wood came from a tree in my backyard! The top is of fine-grained Western Red Cedar.

The emphasis in this instrument is on a bright treble sound suitable for delicate finger picking, but with a dynamic range to cover vigorous strumming as well.
